Alvin After Work: The next evolution of metadata (HDW2024)

Welcome to Alvin After Work at Helsinki Data Week!

Most companies have an untapped, but hugely valuable resource, lying deep within their data systems: metadata! Fresh from delivering the keynote on Monday, metadata legend Ole Olesen-Bagneux will be joining Alvin CEO Martin Sahlen to explore how metadata can be applied practically within your organization.

In his upcoming book, “Fundamentals of Metadata Management”, Ole introduces the “MetaGrid”. In our conversation, Ole will use this as a theoretical framework to explore a new way of thinking about metadata.

Martin, on the other hand, brings his perspective from the real world, outlining all of the weird and wonderful ways he is seeing metadata being leveraged by companies to automate data workflows. Alvin recently announced the Metadata Warehouse, both a concrete technology but also a philosophy around building a product that feeds on metadata. From the very conceptual, to the very practical, how does the MetaGrid relate to the Metadata Warehouse?

To accompany the discussion, there will be food and (appropriately branded) beer, and plenty of time to mingle with a room full of interesting people at this not to be missed after work event.
